“You are the light of the world.”
Journey Inward
Becoming our true selves by putting down deep roots by the streams of God’s living water…establishing a rhythm of life through prayer, scripture, spiritual practices and pursuing healing that brings forth the flourishing, fruitful and good life that Jesus intends for us…becoming more and more like Him.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
– Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message)
Journey Outward
Out of the inward life, Christ’s love will point us outward to touch our world with His grace, compassion and healing. We will embody the words of Isaiah 58…letting our light shine by loosening the chains of injustice, spending ourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfying the needs of the oppressed.
6 ‘Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter –when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? 8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness[ will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
– Isaiah 58:6-8
With God
Through prayer and presence in the community we will seek to discern where God is working and join Him in seeing His Kingdom come…discerning our gifts and allowing God to use us through His empowering Presence.
“…and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:30
With one another
Learning to live together in such a way that we can listen & hear one another, recognizing that each of us is made in the image of God, highly valued and loved…having good conversations formally and informally…dreaming together, rejoicing together, crying together…preferring and loving one another as we watch Jesus being formed in us…the light of the world.
“You are the light of the world.”
– Matthew 5:14
